Baker Hughes JV with Dussur (Saudi Petrolite Chemicals)
This joint venture is a prime example of leveraging the Kingdom's dominant oil and gas industry to catalyze downstream diversification into specialty chemicals. Dussur partnered with American energy technology giant Baker Hughes to form Saudi Petrolite Chemicals, a venture focused on localizing the production of critical oilfield chemicals. Baker Hughes holds a 51% majority stake, with Dussur holding the remainder.
The partnership constructed a state-of-the-art industrial facility in Jubail with an investment of SAR 528.8 million ($141 million). The plant, which was formally inaugurated in February 2024, spans approximately 90,000 square meters and has an annual production capacity of 30,000 metric tons. It is equipped with advanced infrastructure, including an on-site quality control laboratory, dedicated pipeline feeds for ethylene oxide and propylene oxide, and multiple storage tanks and reaction vessels.
